The Hive

About The Work

The Hive explores the idea of mass-producing unique art by means of an entirely autonomous system. The Hive is composed of eight different machines, networked together to behave as a whole, yet drawing in completely unique drawing styles. Each unit shares the same set of operating instructions, however random parameters determine their ultimate emergent behavior. Because of this and coupled with slight differences in their construction, each machine exhibits a unique drawing style.
