Sacr-O-Matic

About The Work

In our single-serving consumer driven culture, automata has in many ways made human interaction obsolete. We receive our money, food, information, medicine and many other services through robotic proxies that grow more complex and self-sufficient everyday. In the future, could we also rely on technology to administer our faith based rituals?

Sacr-o-matic is designed to administer the Eucharistic. Through a series of ten questions, the user is first asked by the machine if they have violated any of the ten commandments. If they reply that they have to any of them, they are asked to repent for fifteen second. The process then starts again. Once they have reached the last question and cleared their conscious, the machine blesses them, depositing a host wafer and pouring a portion of red wine in a small plastic cup.
